The Peaceful Star is a visually stunning block, and so easy to piece! When choosing fabric, maintain a high contrast between dark and light. You could also reverse the dark and light placement and change the look of the block completely.
Mark the intersections of the 1/4" sewing lines (seam allowance) on each of the pieces if you are machine piecing or mark the entire sewing line if you are hand piecing.
It helps to lay your block out while you sew.
For each block cut:
Step-by-step Instructions:
- octagon - 1 dark
- large square - 4 light
- large triangle - 4 light
- small triangle - 8 light
- kite-8 dark
- Sew 4 of the small triangles to the octagon to make it square.
- Sew 4 of the kites to a small triangle, and the other 4 kites to a large triangle as shown.
- Sew a kite with a small triangle to a kite with a large triangle. Make 4 of these units.
- Sew the units together in rows as shown.
